Adding/Editing Profile Field Groups

There is some content in this section (which is still incomplete). The rest is coming soon....

Profile Field Groups Grid allows different Profile Field Groups to be created to change the way that the various Profile Fields are shown on the Member Profile pages.

To add a new Profile Field Group click the Add New Profile Field Group text. This will open up an input screen with the fields shown in the table below.

Field Name

Description/Comments

Name

This is the name of the Profile Field Group that will appear within a member’s profile, on the various pages (views) where this is displayed within the system – ie My Profile, Join, View Member, and Edit Member.

The group name will also appear in the Profile Field List, allowing fields to be allocated to each group (see below).

Width

This is the percentage of the width of the member profile page that will be taken up by the Group. I.e.50% will create a ‘display area’ that is half of the width of the page, and 100% will create a ‘display area’ across the whole width of the page

Display Order

This determines the order in which the Profile Field Groups are displayed on the Member Profile page. The order is across (from left to right) and then down

Care needs to be taken in the allocation of ‘width’ and ‘display order’ to ensure that all fields display properly in every ‘view’. Not every profile field will be shown in every view, meaning that the sizes of the various profile field groups will also vary between the ‘views’.

Widths and display orders should be set such that for each ‘row’ of a profile field page the total of the profile field groups adds up to 100%. ie 2 x 50%, or 1 x 100%. Note also that if one 50% width group is much larger than the one adjacent to it (on the same ‘row’) they may not display properly.

Once you have completed all the required fields press the Insert button and the new group will appear in the Profile Fields Group Grid. If you wish to exit without saving press the Cancel button.

To edit an existing Profile Field Group click the ‘pen’ icon to the left of its name in the grid, and then make any changes required using the same process as for adding a group.

To delete an existing Profile Field Group remove the details by editing the fields as above.

NOTE: If you change/delete a Profile Field Group this will remove all the associated Profile Fields from ALL members’ profiles (‘views’), unless you reassign them to other Profile Field Groups by editing each of the relevant Profile Fields (see below).

The numbers in the Fields column in the Profile Fields Groups Grid are calculated by the system from the Profile Fields that have been allocated to each group.

The Refresh button in the top right corner of the page has no function as any changes are saved and updated via the Insert buttons for each Profile Field Group.
