There are two walks each month. Members of the long walking group may join all or any of the walks listed here which are aimed at walkers with a good level of fitness and health. None of the walks requires you to climb mountains or scramble over rocks. Walk length varies between 8 and 13 miles (average is about 10) and are mainly circular. Travel time to the start of the walk is a maximum of 90 minutes. We normally arrive back in Sandbach between 5 and 7pm (traffic permitting). The walks are scheduled normally for a Wednesday.
The meeting point for all walks is Sandbach Football Club Car Park, Hind Heath Road, CW11 3LZ ready to leave at 9.00 am. Please take note of the date and time for each walk, as there are occasional variations.
You are advised to have a good pair of walking boots, waterproof clothing, food, and a drink. At the very least please carry lunch, a cold drink in hot weather and a hot drink when it is cold. The leader carries a basic first aid kit, but may not be currently trained. The leader also carries a 'Fast Find' device so that in the case of an incident in an area where there is no mobile phone signal help can be summoned. Click Here for FastFind Information
Please keep to the pace set by the leader that will be governed by the slowest in the group. Please do not go in front of the leader or leave the walk without informing the leader. If you have any medical conditions that could affect you on a walk, please make the leader aware. If you experience any difficulty on the walk please inform the leader at once.
Many of the walks cross farmland therefore mud and stiles can be expected; dogs are not allowed. The leader reserves the right to alter or curtail any walk according to the prevailing circumstances.
If you hope to get a lift from Sandbach to the start of the walk, make sure you arrive in plenty of time. Important: a lift cannot be guaranteed. Please bring a change of footwear and, dependent on weather conditions, alternative clothing.
Normally a more detailed description of the walk will be sent out on email during the weekend before the walk, giving an indication of how demanding the walk will be. Please contact either group leaders or walk leaders for further clarification.
Where public transport is indicated, an alternative walk will be led if the bus or train has insufficient space.
