Tai Chi offers a gentle and relaxing form of exercise which offers benefits to general well-being as well as improving mobility, balance and strength. It is a non-combative, non-competitive form where slow fluid movements combine with mental imagery and deep breathing to create beneficial effects on the cardio-respiratory system, muscular strength and circulation while also reducing tension and anxiety.

The groups instructor Dave Bailey is continuing from September 2026 at the Wesley Centre on Mondays from 2-3pm. The session fee is £3.50 and as this is a paid tutor group payment will be required in advance.  Anyone attending for a taster will pay £3.50 on the day.

    Please note:

  • On hard floors we recommend footwear which is light and flexible and has flat soles, non-slip socks are also acceptable.
  • Footwear such as flip-flops, slides or sling backs are not suitable for safety reasons.
  • Bare feet or just socks are not recommended on hard floors, again due to safety with the possibility of slipping.
  • Trainers with curved soles are not recommended since they do not have sufficient area of the sole in contact with the floor.
  • Clothing in general should not be tight fitting and should enable the wearer to breathe abdominally.
  • We recommend you bring a water bottle.
