The idea of this group came about when I was first joining U3A and asked if there was any groups that met during weekends?

Little did I know that this was the opportunity that the committee had been hoping for!

Subsequently, "The Sunday Lunch Discussion Group" was created.

The Sunday Lunch Discussion Group is an informal group now being held at the new venue of Sandbach Rugby Club where there is ample parking for diners, handy for walkers and not far out of town.   We meet on the third Sunday in the month at 3pm and aim to eat at 3.30 when the rugby players have left and the caterers and bar staff can cater for our every need!  I email all group members a week prior to our luncheon in order to take meat choices which helps the caterers.   There is normally a choice of 3 meats at a cost of £7.50 for a full Sunday roast, plus a dessert for those who still have space at £2.50 and coffee also available at £1.50.

I am excited to inform you all that at last we can meet again in the Covid secure venue, eating inside, or if preferred in the marquee area during the summer.

I look forward to meeting up again with existing members of the group and also inviting new members who can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and making new acquaintances and friends.

On Sunday 18^th September in the afternoon our Group met at our usual venue of Sandbach Rugby Club.

We followed the guidelines from the National U3A regarding whether or not to meet up at this time.  All of the members who were available chose to attend the lunch.

We maintained a theme of memories of meeting the Queen or other members of the Royal family with everybody sharing their stories.

We raised our glasses in a toast to the Queen and the King and enjoyed a wonderful roast dinner.
