About the group
The ukulele group is progressing very well. We have ten members, three ladies and seven men. We have been meeting every Monday excluding Bank Holidays for just over a year, and average eight members at each session . Our repertoire now includes nearly fifty songs which we perform with variable expertise depending on the difficulty. The most important thing is that everybody enjoys it and neighbours comment that everyone arrives and leaves smiling or laughing. We were all very nervous to be asked to play for the line dancers and square dancers just before Christmas but it proved to be enjoyable for a first effort. Time will tell if we get invited again!!
This was followed by playing at the Christmas social which was daunting with an audience of , I am told, one hundred and seventy members. Everybody seemed to join in and enjoy the session and we received some very kind emails afterwards. We have had several enquiries from members interested in joining the group but it is not practical to increase the size of the group as we only have ten chairs at home. We meet at my home in Tingewick every Monday at 11.00 am.
