The Science & Technology group will be of interest to those with some background in a branch of the sciences. We hope to cover Chemistry, Physics, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Electronics & Computing Technology etc looking at past, present, and future developments.
Meetings consist of talks by members, invited speakers and video presentations on these topics often followed by discussion. For example, members’ talks (for a part or whole session) can be about recent developments, experiences from their working life as well as scientific discoveries, technology developments and the people who made them, based upon sharing their knowledge or researching a topic to present to the group.
We expect to invite external speakers from relevant organisations to talk to us as part of our programme. We can also access recorded talks from organisations such as the Royal Institution and other u3a Science groups. Visits to places of scientific or technological interest in the area will bring topics to life.
