The Philosophy Group meets monthly and has a membership of about 25. Normally about 18 people turn up for meetings. The full title of the group is Philosophy, Politics and Economics; or for short PPE. This gives a very wide base for talks, debates and discussions. Our current format is;
1. A volunteer will present a longish paper (4-5 A4 pages) which will take 20-30 minutes to read. It will be on a single topic, philosopher, etc to discuss.
2. A volunteer will pick a subject with a short list of questions arising for everyone to think about before the next meeting. (This will be sent to me in advance and I will e-mail everybody to allow time to prepare a response for discussion.)
3. Everyone invited to bring along a short cutting from a newspaper/magazine; a quotation etc. We choose which to set off an impromptu discussion. Expect to fit in 3 to 4 items.
