This is a friendly self-teaching group, although we have an excellent group ‘leader’ in Marion, with other people who can stand in in her absence. We formed in February 2014 as Beginners. Speaking Italian in Zoom meetings is one of the main objectives, along with some listening, comprehension, and grammar exercises. We have also recently resolved to meet face to face in a pre-chosen venue for the last session of the month. Our vocabulary is probably in the order of 3,500 words or more (for some!). We have been using various learning aids including online resources which often deal with current topics. There is usually a little homework to do in the week.
We meet via Zoom video conference from 2.30 on Friday afternoons. The group welcomes new members of roughly the same standard, and this has sometimes been to our advantage if those people are somewhat more fluent than the majority of the group! The group coordinator is happy to be contacted for membership requests, advice on starting up any new beginners’ group, or any other enquiries.
