About the Group
Our friendly German group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. With ten members in the group, we are now at full capacity.
We all have a previous knowledge of German and are also fortunate to have a native German speaker in our group. The focus for each session is generally chosen by the host, so we have an interesting mix of activities, e.g. general conversation, reading German articles, poems, doing crosswords and quizzes, watching videos, translating - in fact anything German language-related. However, at the moment we are learning lots of interesting facts about Germany, thanks to a very interesting book entitled 'Deutschland: Alles, was du wissen willst'. We've just completed a a virtual tour of Germany, exploring a different 'Bundesland' at each session. Our journey started in Baden-Württemberg and we have worked our way around the 16 Bundesländer (in an alphabetical order) finishing in Thüringen.
‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ seem to have become a regular feature at our meetings now too. We also organise outings from time to time.
