About the Group

Our friendly German group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. With ten members in the group, we are now at full capacity.

We all have a previous knowledge of German and are also fortunate to have a native German speaker in our group. The focus for each session is normally chosen by the group leader or the host. We usually start the session with general conversation about what we've been doing recently, which invariably proves to be very entertaining. It's amazing how many interesting things we get up to!  The second half of our session is an opportunity for us to widen our vocabulary and knowledge by reading German articles, doing crosswords and quizzes, watching a short video or maybe even playing a board game.   We have recently been learning lots of interesting facts about Germany, thanks to a very interesting book entitled 'Deutschland: Alles, was du wissen willst'.   This enabled us to complete a a virtual tour of Germany, exploring a different 'Bundesland' at each session. Our journey started in Baden-Württemberg and we have worked our way around the 16 Bundesländer (in an alphabetical order) finishing in Thüringen.

‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ seem to have become a regular feature at our meetings now too.  We also organise outings from time to time.
