General Items

  • Church Gardens Harefield - Open days and guided Tours

Members may remember the Garden Group’s first Zoom based talk back in November 2020.  The talk was entitled ‘A Family’s Restoration Journey’, was all about the restoration of Church Gardens in Harefield, and was given by one of the owners, Kay McHugh.

Now that Covid restrictions are substantially eased, Church Gardens is opening its doors to the public again this year with open days and guided tours.  The events will begin with a Public Open Day on Easter Monday, 18th April, for the Spring Bulb Display. It is two years since the Gardens were last able to open in the Spring, and over 24,000 bulbs have been added to the display since then!

The next event will be a Public Guided Tour Day on the 14th May. The ‘Introduction to Church Gardens’ Guided Tour by Kay will include all garden features, old and new!

Tickets for both of these events are available on the Church Gardens website

  • Woodland Burials

This type of funeral is often mentioned but not always understood. In this article by Peter Lewin, he writes in favour of the practice from his own recent experience. The whole article can be found here
