How to Join
Four simple steps enable you to join Towcester u3a online:
- Please read the Data Protection (GDPR) section below.
- Please complete the New Member application form below.
- Please read the Gift-Aid section below and, if you meet the requirements, select the “Yes” button below the declaration on the application form
- Click on the “Submit Membership Application” button at the bottom of the form.
You will then receive an email giving details of the ways you can pay your membership fee, including our preferred method, which is online by credit transfer, so please check your email messages. The fee is currently £20 per annum, or £10 for six months if you join on or after the 1st December.
Please Note:
Towcester u3a membership year runs from 1st June to 31st May, so members are required to renew their membership annually on or before 1st June. However, if you join between 1st December and 28th February, we offer half year membership at a reduced fee with renewal at the full rate in May. If you join between 1st March and 31st May, renewal will not be required until May the following year.
We also offer part-year membership to visitors to the area who know they will be in the Towcester area for several months and want to take part in Towcester u3a activities. Please contact the membership secretary at membership@towcesteru3a.co.uk for more details.
Data Protection (GDPR)
Towcester u3a undertakes to collect your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Our lawful basis for doing so is due to the contractual relationship that you, as a member, will have with Towcester u3a. We will need to process and store the personal data you supply to us for the administration of your membership, and the communication of information about the groups, activities, and events that you can access as a member. For further details see the Privacy Policy, available on our website, here, or from the Secretary. By completing this application, you are agreeing that we may collect and use your personal information as set out in this document.
We share personal data with the company that oversees distribution of the Third Age Trust magazine for direct mailing purposes. By choosing “Yes” in answer to the question “Would you like to receive TAM magazine?” you give your consent for your data to be shared with this company and with the Third Age Trust.
If relevant, Gift Aid data will be sent to HMRC.
You may view and update your personal information at any time.
Gift Aid
Your membership fee can be counted as a donation for tax purposes, and Towcester u3a can claim an additional 25p from HMRC for every £1 you pay. To enable us to claim this tax refund your address is needed to identify you as a UK taxpayer, and you must select the “Yes” button after the Gift Aid Declaration below.
If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
Please notify Towcester u3a if you: (A) Want to cancel this declaration or (B) Change your name or home address or (C) No longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.
Communications
Towcester u3a Bulletin includes announcements and news of our various group activities. It is distributed to all our members by email.
The u3a matters Magazine is published by the Third Age Trust and supplied free of charge to members. If you prefer not to receive it, please choose "No" on the application form.
