Buckingham U3A has two successful intermediate Tai Chi groups running on a Tuesday and Friday mornings, both of these groups started earlier in 2024.
The Monday Tai Chi group will start meeting on the 21st October - if you are interested in joining this new group please contact Fraser via the group email as above.
The style of Tai Chi involved is very gentle: aimed at controlled movement, flexibility, balance, a bit of fun and often called a "moving meditation" - it is based on the 70 more flowing moves from the larger Taoist Tai Chi set that are the most suitable for us, rather than any kicks or too much trying to balance on one leg etc.
The group use the University Tanlaw Mill Dance studio from 10am until 11am, with the option of coffee afterwards downstairs in the refectory - with the existing groups the coffee is as eagerly anticipated as the exercise beforehand. For information our Friday group are now up to move 70 (though luckily for Fraser he is still needed to remind them of the moves/sequence etc.).
The Tai Chi group is evolving but a likely direction is to run a similar new joiners group every few months, and at a later stage to allow people to transfer to the more advanced Friday or Tuesday groups; or to stay in this group, so potentially creating a natural flow.
